Trains (Japan Railways)

Hyperdia is very useful for searching trains in Japan.
When you search trains from New Chitose(Sapporo) Airport, your origin is “New Chitose Airport” station and your destination is “Kutchan” station for Grand Hirafu Ski resort or “Niseko” station for Niseko Village, Annupuri and Moiwa ski resort. There is Hirafu station between Kutchan station and Niseko station but the Hirafu station is very isolated in forest and there is no bus stops and no taxies in front of the station. The name of Hirafu station is easy to confuse and people sometimes get off at this station to get to the Grand Hirafu Ski Resort but Kutchan station is the right station, not Hirafu station.

Cars, Rent-a-car

If you are planning a drive trip in Niseko area in winter season, please be aware of the followings;-
– not using a handbrake
– keep the speed limit and all movement needs to be gentle when it’s on icy roads.
– might as well not to drive when it’s very windy & snowy condition.
– no rush and give yourself much spare time

It depends on the ski hills, the travelling periods, the number of people, the prices and the destinations but the below is the popular type of the stay in Japan. As you know, you can make a booking through OTA(Online Travel Agent such as Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, Airbnb) but the accommodation needs to pay agent commission to them. As such, good accommodations accept only direct booking or they might reduce price compare with the OTA website in some cases.
